Online ADHD Assessment
for Adults in Texas
MindSource offers online and in-person psychological assessment for adults throughout Texas. Assessments are conducted by Dr. Tamara Starling, PhD, LP, a licensed psychologist in Texas and nationally certified school psychologist.
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that emerges in childhood and often persists into adulthood. While frequently recognized as a childhood disorder, many adults may have ADHD without ever receiving a diagnosis. Symptoms typically arise in childhood but can go unnoticed, leading adults to seek their diagnosis later in life.
Diagnosing ADHD generally involves a checklist for rating symptoms and reviewing behavioral history and experiences. The clinician will assess whether ADHD symptoms were evident before the age of 12 and may request permission to collect insights from friends and family.
Online Assessment
Online assessment is provided via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform and is available to adults located in Texas. Online assessment may be ideal for:
- Adults facing challenges with attention or executive functioning in school, work, or home environments.
In-Person Assessment
In-person assessment is available for adults located in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. In-person assessment is more comprehensive than online assessment and may be ideal for:
- College students needing documentation for academic planning and support.
- Working adults seeking strategies and documentation for ADA accommodations.
- Adults evaluating ADHD against similar concerns, such as anxiety, sleep disorders, or learning disabilities.

Which Assessment Option is Best for You?
If you are weighing whether online or in-person assessment is best for you, there are many things to consider, such as:
- Reason for Assessment
- Geographical Location
- Time Commitment
- Assessment Cost
Reason for Assessment
What is the reason you are seeking an assessment? Many individuals are seeking answers to questions about their symptoms. They may be looking for recommendations to manage symptoms at home, work, or school.
Geographical Location
When seeking an assessment to satisfy requirements for workplace or academic accommodations (e.g., for testing or classroom accommodations), a comprehensive assessment may be required to meet the specific criteria outlined by your workplace or academic entity. It is important to keep in mind that comprehensive assessments require in-person assessment. In-person assessment is currently available in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. For individuals who live outside of the Dallas–Fort Worth area or are unable to travel to the area, in-person testing is not available.
Time Commitment
ADHD testing, both online and in person, is primarily comprised of three parts: the intake appointment, assessment, and feedback session. The intake appointment is used to identify your goals for assessment, history, and provide information about the assessment process. The assessment process requires a time commitment and can occur across two sessions depending on your assessment needs. An in-person assessment is more comprehensive and requires a greater time commitment than an online assessment. The feedback session allows you to receive and discuss the results of your assessment. You will receive a written report at the conclusion of the assessment.
Assessment Cost
There is a difference in the cost of the online and in-person assessments. ADHD assessments are $1750 for an online assessment and $2750 for an in-person assessment. Due to the more comprehensive nature of the in-person assessment, there is a higher fee associated with assessment services.
Preparing for an ADHD Assessment
Unlike the tests you take in school, studying isn't necessary before an ADHD assessment. However, there are a few steps you can take to ensure you're well-prepared. Before your assessment, you should:
- Bring glasses or hearing aids, and take any prescribed medications unless instructed otherwise.
- Include school or medical records that you wish to be reviewed.
- Make sure to rest adequately, eat beforehand, and plan for breaks.
